At Mount Somers, our purpose reaches beyond producing premium New Zealand honey. We are committed to protecting the natural landscapes that make our honey possible. Mount Somers is proud to be Toitū Net Carbon Zero certified, an internationally recognised validation of our sustainability performance and our commitment to reducing our environmental impact.
Through Toitū Envirocare’s certification programme, we measure and independently verify all operational greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across our business to ISO 14064 1 and Toitū programme requirements. This covers the minimum boundary and includes hard to abate emissions generated from beekeeping, honey extraction, production, packaging, energy use, and distribution. Guided by a detailed, science based reduction plan, we work to reduce these emissions each year and offset the remaining unavoidable emissions using high integrity carbon credits. This enables us to achieve net zero carbon emissions.
As part of the Toitū Together community, Mount Somers stands alongside other New Zealand organisations taking real action on climate change. For us, sustainability is not just a claim. It is a transparent, independently verified commitment to environmental guardianship and to protecting the pristine environments that allow Mānuka and native flora to thrive.
At Mount Somers, everything begins with nature. By caring for our land, our bees, and our future, we ensure that every jar of Mount Somers honey reflects the highest standards of purity, authenticity, and environmental integrity.
